A Night I'll Never Forget

I never thought my first blog would be about something like what I have written below.
A Night I'll Never Forget
I belong to the American Amature Poker League(AAPL) as a staff member and future partner. What I do is host Free Texas Hold 'Em tournaments at local taverns/resturants and tonight(Tues) was a night that I worked. As I was on my way home, about 1:30am, I was involved in an accident ... not my fault, but bad enough the car will be totaled. I know your thinking ... how am I ... tell yeah the truth ... my lower backs hurts, but it had been hurting all day/night anyway. The cops were chasing a SUV type vehicle when it was going from one road to another via an on ramp ... I saw the vehicle and had moved into the left lane (like normal) to allow it to merge on ... as I'm coming up to the ramp where it meets the road, I look over my right shoulder to see a vehicle coming right for me ... he caught the rear passenger tire area & door a lil ... shattered the rear window all over, had glass in the front seat too ... I was able to react quick enough after him hitting me to keep control enough and not hit the guard rail or jersey wall ... the driver front bumper just barely scraped the jersey wall as I came to a stop ... my dog Hanna was with me, like she normally is, sitting in the passenger seat ... when we got hit, I had my phone headset on and was talking to one of my work associates, he heard the whole thing happen ... Hanna had gotten thrown towards me on impact and ripped the headset off my head, at the same time, I was able to grab her and still keep control of the car. The cops said he could have been going about 70+ when he hit me and if I hadn't been right in that spot, at that time, the guy would have run right into the guardrail. I keep asking myself ... why couldn't I have been a minute behind or a minute ahead of all that happened ... I don't know why and I never will know ... The one thing I do know is that both Hanna & I are alive ... the car can be replaced, we can't. Just a little info I got from the officer was that the guy was running from them on a revoked license, drug trafficking, trying to elude police, driving at over 110 mph at times (the roads he was traveling .. top speed is 45), warrants for his arrest, wreckless driving and then all the charges once he hit me which the big one is a felony by leaving the scene of an accident ... the officer said 1 or 2 more, but I can't remember now what they are. Guess that about covers all the important stuff. As I said before, what really, REALLY matters, is that I am here typing this and not someplace worse. The officer said that it could have been alot worse for me had I not reacted the way I did in controlling the car. Thanks for reading, Tim :o) PS: They took him away in an ambulance.
