Good Morning. How much would you pay for a dead house fly? Well China is paying roughly 7 cents for every dead house fly turned in. BEIJING (Reuters) - A Chinese city suburb has set a bounty on dead flies in a bid to promote public hygiene, Xinhua news agency said Tuesday. Xigong, a district of Luoyang in the central province of Henan, paid out more than 1,000 yuan ($125) for about 2,000 dead flies on July 1, the day it launched the scheme with the aim of encouraging cleanliness in residential areas. "I and colleagues believe it is the best way to push residents to do more for their living environment," Hu Guisheng, the office chief, was quoted as saying. The payment scheme is the first of its kind in Luoyang, a city of 1.55 million people which is striving to earn the title of "state-level hygienic city." But critics have questioned the benefits of paying 0.5 yuan (seven U.S. cents) per insect turned in, a scheme which has sparked an online debate. An Internet user said that although the office had good intentions, the action itself had made the district a laughing stock. "The key point is the government should encourage residents to clean up the environment so that no flies can live there, instead of spending money on dead flies," the Internet user wrote. China has a history of using unorthodox means to eradicate pests. When Mao Zedong launched the "Four Pests" campaign during the Great Leap Forward in the 1950s, citizens were ordered to kill flies, mosquitoes, rats and sparrows. Pest control efforts included banging pots and pans to scare sparrows into flight and have them eventually drop to earth dead from exhaustion. So if that does help then perhaps we should have the Government here pay similar bounty on our pests…yeah fat chance! So what’s on tap for you in your little piece of the world this weekend? Me and mine are doing an Art Fair on the Bluff’s big event for Saint Joseph, Michigan it really deems the start to South Western Michigan Festival season and parades, wine tasting and you have it’s. Should be a great showing as they do get artists in from all over the US and even some Canooks too. Not that, that is a bad thing. The art fest starts Saturday morning and lasts until 6:00pm Sunday evening. So we are going early due to a pig roast at a local watering hole and then Sunday rest before the work week begins again. My gosh the weekend has just arrived and I am almost into next week, slow down Marty and just let it happen…Other then that not much going on, except Mandy has an Interview with the Local Old Navy store which I truly hope she gets it. She just is not having fun working in the electrical sales industry and needs to get into her yearning field which is clothes and the design of them. Did I mention before she makes Purse’s? My gosh she has made 300 plus and I think she has 200 up in her closet. It’s a big ass closet to say the least. It’s the size of a small bedroom 8 x 10 walk in… we had the room and I did her proud by adding that to her bedroom… ok enough on family fun and weekend events. May I wish you a great weekend, marvelous weather and great people to share it with. Have a great weekend. A Huge hug, a series of provocative pats and a tip of the hat. Marrrrtay
