"Imainary Love"
She says she loves him,
Even when his fists are balled tight,
Constantly struggling to hide the bruises after every fight,
Crying to her friends helplessly on the phone,
While cautiously watching for his return home,
And yet she says she loves him,
She believes with her help he can change,
But she hopelessly waits through physical pain,
While his verbal abuse leaves her mentally drained,
How many excuses can her imagination provide,
As she constantly asks herself the question why,
But yet she says she loves him,
She can't remember the last time she heard something nice,
Only left to imagine what that would sound like,
Trapped on a plantation of hurt and a slave in her own house,
Bound and chained by fear searching for a way out,
But yet she says she loves him,
She stairs in the mirror at her own reflection,
Crying and praying for spiritual protection,
For a day to come when she can put her troubles on a shelf,
The day when she takes that love for him and gives it to herself...
Love yourself and let no one take that away...
