"In the Meantime"

I was on my way home from working overnight and was heading home and thinking about just what I was going to do when I got home. Typically, I get on the computer for a bit then head off to bed, but I was extremely wide awake for a change. Driving along 360, I began to say to myself, "Self (hee hee), I think you still have time to make the 8am service" so I turned around on the highway at the first legal opportunity and headed off to Church. Went to the Church library first since I was way early for the service that actually would begin at 8:15a. While in the library, I found what appears to be a very interesting book. It is a book that is written by Jamie Langston Turner called, "Some Wildflower in My Heart". With my fascination of wildflowers, and bluebonnets in particular, I picked it up and read the back cover:
"Margaret Tuttle's story is one of love unsought, for she had been perfectly content with the well-ordered and conveniently predictable life she had arranged for herself. But something dark lurks beneath the surface of her placid and uncluttered being, something dusty with neglect yet painful to the touch. Birdie Freeman is everything Margaret is not; homely, humble, and generous. It is Birdie who manages, through nothing but acts of love, to dredge up Margaret's memories of things better left buried. Then Margaret discovers that Birdie harbors secrets of her own."
At any rate, it does sound a bit intriguing. We'll see. :D "In the meantime".... lol... That was the name of the sermon that was spoken today. Ever feel that when you go to Church, they write the sermons with you especially in mind??? lol... Some highlights of the sermon that I wrote down were: "In the meantime - the time between where we are and where we want to be." "We all say, 'Someday....but, in the meantime,....(you fill in the gaps with your own)." "How much of life is spent for yearning and hoping for that out there?" "So many of us can be the answer to other's unanswered prayers." "We all long for the day when hopes and dreams will come true." "It is important to recognize the present time of NOW." "The future. Who knows??? In the meantime, let us pray." All of those points seem to speak to me with regards to so many things.... ** my leg that has needed complete healing over the last 3 years, yet I just try to take care of it the best way that I can since I don't have health insurance, so in the meantime....I just cope; ** my love life has longed for the completeness of a soul mate, yet I just meander through life hoping that he will just appear instead of being more active in life, so in the meantime....I just wait; ** my yearning to write books has been long a dream of mine to which I have been perfecting my writing skills through many, many blogs, although I have started on a book idea or two without any real direction of how I am going to get it published, so in the meantime....I just blog; ** and the list could go on and on and on. We all have those "somedays" and say "Well, in the meantime, I'll just...". The pastor, Dr. Louis Zbinden, was right. We need to focus on the NOW and not what could be in the future; we need to make things happen in the presence of the NOW. All of what he has said comes on the heels of my having to go to the hospital on Friday. The assistant gave me re-newed hope in that I could have financial assistance NOW for the surgery. Is it possible that I could also get financial assistance to help with my knee/leg injuries from the Feb '04 accident as well???? LOL... well, in the meantime, I am going to hope and pray -- only because there isn't anything that I can do about it now. No one is there to ask the questions to; however, I am making a list of questions to ask and when the caseworker calls, I will see if we can get more than one thing accomplished under the financial assistance. Today is the NOW. Tomorrow will be the NOW. The future, full of unknowns, can be filled with the present, one day at a time. If you had heard the sermon about, "In the meantime....", what would it mean to you???? :D
