well, its another boring day in Iraq. For anyone who does not know me, I am an engineering consultant who works mainly in warzones. In the past 22 years I have been involved in many world conflicts and currantly am in Iraq for the 5th time in 17 years.
I live in a mancamp about 25 miles southeast of baghdad. It is faily quiet here at the moment, I have been here when there was much more turmoil in the area. It used to be constant gunfire and mortar attacks but now it is quiet except for motars off in the distance.
I am building a Power Station for the Iraq Ministry of Electricity. I work for Dr. Kahrim, the Minister of Electricity. I work 12 hours a day 7 days a week until the job is complete. I have been here 1 month now and I have the first unit ready to run. (there are 10 units) So I have my work cut out for me.
The Iraqi people are generaly nice. I am lucky because I have a very good crew of local nationals who are eager to learn and wish to do a good job. Sometimes the going is slow because I have to train them as we move along.
When all is complete I will have added 500 Megawatts to the Iraqi people. That is about a 15% increase in electrical generation capacity.
