Good Morning and happy Thursday. Brrrr it’s cold in the Midwest today as was yesterday too. Ok, do we need to get the parents involved or what… Oh on what you ask… Has this ever happened to you? You are driving down any street road; you name it and have to pull around kids walking with their back to you (as you drive your car) spread three or four wide as if they have the right of way? Well in most cases they do, because if you run them down like twice, that means you had to run them over, and then back up and run them over again just for good measure. Now honestly I would not do this, but given a chance to live and drive around the streets of Benton Harbor, Michigan and I will not choose color or creed because they all do it and think it’s funny. But, when we were kids and we were out riding our bikes, walking with friends yeah sure the road was a lot softer and smoother to ride or walk on so we did. Although when a car approached we moved over to the other side or off the road entirely right? Not so now days. Today’s child (ok not all children, young adults or adults are like this I know) figures there is a license plate plastered on their ass and they have the right to any or all portions of the road. So if that be true. Then we need to fit their ass for the upside down triangular orange and red slow moving vehicle sign but, in their cases it should read “The world owes me so much I will just take it out on those who choose to drive where I walk” sign… Yesterday it happened to me is various ways. I left the building for lunch and a thirty-something man was stopping traffic so his children or the children he was stopping traffic for could cross the street and catch up to their mother who was not having anything to do with waiting for them. So I ask you this. Say this was 30, 40 or 50 years ago… there were cars on the same roads… but if you were the child would you run out in front of traffic to catch your mother while your father stopped traffic to allow this to happen? No I expect not. For one thing your mother I think would already have a hold of your hand while you both crossed with no traffic in either direction. What has happened to common courtesy? Not that I have turned into my Grandfather and want to say you young whipper-snappers don’t know nothing, about nothing!! When I was yer age I respected my elders!!! You know… it’s not about who is who or what is what. What color your skin is if you were a slave owned a slave or did not know what a slave was. It’s about why in the hell are we constantly having to kowtow down to others who feel injustice has been done to them and the world owes them this or that. You know I do not care how many times you run that disrespectful child over, they just don’t get it. Just kidding I would not run down anyone, anyhow…but… I somehow know why people who get the term fingered on them are called postal, go postal. I mentioned to Mandy, “ Hey Mandy, when you get together with your friends… you do not block the advancement of on coming traffic do you?” She said “ Yeah dad all the time” No she didn’t actually say that, she said “ Dad, no way. I have to drive on the same roads as you and those who do that want attention or the feeling they made you do something just because they are P O ‘D at the world for something” See when a child also knows the struggles made by others for no apparent reason other then to disrupt…where do we go from here? As parents you can only hope your child does not sit up on a high rise building brandishing a 30-06 loaded with armor piercing shells making a statement right? As well as cause an accident because they were to proud to move off the road and walk on… oh lets see a sidewalk for heavens sake which were intended to be used by people in the first place!!!… Is it because the court rooms are filled with cases of parents and children because they disciplined their children and the law says that is a no-no. I bet law makers who made such laws need first off yes protect the kids…lord knows there are far too many cases of child abuse. But, my god lets at least let the children know what is right from wrong on goofy ass issues of traffic safety…
Oh well, frustration in the city… Wow, I think I had a whole week load of Tirade Tuesday’s… Oh let’s move on to bigger and better things, hell this has already turned into a morning novel for you, for that I am truly sorry. Get these fingers a going and they can’t stop…hmmm I best stop… So do have a wonderful day in what ever you intend to do. Do not run down any kids…I was just playing in the theater of the mind…I just checked I do not have a Blue eagle patch on my arm.. so no postal here… have a great day.
