Being a single parent (as most of us know) can be both trying and rewarding. My daughter is a honor roll student, band geek, and pms queen. My son is a video game freak and just gets what needs to be done in school. I try my darnest to balance their needs, work and my own schooling and sometimes it doesn't seem to be enough.
This past week I believe my daughter may have gotten a view of how "bad" other parents can be -- her best friends parents came home drunk - one thing led to another - the kids were taken away again. I feel for the kids, they are good kids. The parents, I'm not too sure. I guess I do not understand the power of alcohol - I battled with drugs about a decade ago and know its evils. If a person REALLY wants to "come clean" there are so many programs and so much help BUT they have to seek it out for themselves. I pray that these parents can do what they need to form a family again. As for myself, I will continue to put my childrens needs first and hope that one day they realize that I am just one person and that I did the best that I could.
Thanks for listening. And if you have a moment to pray - please include Alyssa and her little brother. XOXO
