I arrived in London in September 1972, I could not speak of word of English and the Piccadilly Circus metro station in London was my home for a few months.
I played guitar and sang to survive and after many months of serious struggles started a normal life working and learning English in the UK.
I did a myriad of dirty job and finally was able to afford to pay for my music tuition. After many year of hard work I finally graduated from the Royal School of Music in London in December 1976. I earned the Silver Distinction Cup in front of 400 other students. (see pic on CT)
I got my first recording deal with She Is Not Yours and signed up a recording contract with Phonogram Philips Record Company in Paris in 1982 and sold over 100.000 copies.
She Is Not Yours - I wrote the song, sang it and played keyboard. I had the French philharmonic orchestra and about 20 violins to back me up. Sad enough I was young and innocent and signed myself into a bad deal and was abused by the management who stole thousands from me.
Lost Love 1981- I wrote the song, sang it and played lead guitar in this number. I was madly in love with a British girl named Jane Heaton from Homskirk near Liverpool and wrote the song for her.
I love America 1982 - I wrote the song, sang it and played guitar. I was already thinking of moving to the US.
Rudy I Will Meet You In Afghanistan – I wrote that song when the Russian invaded Afghanistan. Much record company loved the song but found it much too controversial and political and refused to release it.
When I arrived in the US in 1984 EMI in Los Angeles offered me another recording deal but I rejected it as I thought I had more to offer society than singing and cutting records or being abused again.
Note this work was produced over 25 years ago and not commercial any longer but it show my creativity and how advanced I was during my younger years. I still play piano and classical music where ever my famous friends ask me to.
