  Ursa Minor/Little Bear As the legend goes, when Callisto was changed into a large bear (Ursa Major) and began roaming the forests. Her son Arcas chanced upon her one day and was surprised when the bear started to charge her. Arcas drew his bow to slay the bear, but Zeus interfered so as to save Arcas' mother. Thus Arcas was changed at that moment into a little bear and thrown into the sky with his mother where they would both be immortal.
