Sharkfin's blog: "Chaos"

created on 10/03/2006  |  http://fubar.com/chaos/b9661
Good Morning…a slight pause as I am not sure this mornings story or missive or blog will have much response due to the audience is mainly woman. That is not a bad thing, actually I enjoy talking with women. I talk to men all day at work due to the type of business I am in and some women as well seeing that more and more purchasing duties are being trust on women for commercial and industrial accounts alike. The topic today is on the MSN TAB: Also on MSN, Moms: Share stories about your kids. Once that icon is clicked you get potholed into a site called “In the Motherhood” Which is great do not get me wrong this is a must. People should talk about their children, good, bad or indifferent. My dilemma is this Not that I talk mainly or write mainly to women, but more so that there are no Men sites to talk about their children. You know, I hear all the time from friends on what their kids doing, done or accomplishments are. Oh yeah, we guys love our children. We do not always show it, because we are busy being the big strong man who does not cry over spilt milk. That is a lot of Huey! You show me one guy that says he doesn’t cry and I will show you a big fat liar period! We may not show it. We may not want to let on that there is a softer side to us. Hey I do agree there are some just plain harden guys. Guys who would not give a rats ass on this or that and more so about what’s in it for me. Those guys are few and far between and lost sight of reality and what is good people skills. Again they are out there. I am sure if you know of a gal that mainly dates, marries or has been in those types of relationships they think the whole world is made up of those guys, well it’s not. Give a man a chance to talk about his kids, his grandkids and their accomplishments and you will never get him to shut up. I do not have grand children yet…I have three beautiful daughters and neither is close enough to even saying they are ready for marriage let alone the trip down mommy lane. That trip is a worldly tour. I love listening to stories of children of all of you and in many cases I hear from about three on a regular basis. Daily from one as she is a proud parent grandparent and foster care parent. I say Linda is my supergal. She knows who she is. Again the mommy site is great god bless the maker of that site. I think a site similar to it should be for fathers who wish to get a word in. Shoot, one can be strong and compassionate without being called a sissy. You know what. I have not been called a sissy by anyone other then my goofy ass brother and that was years ago when he was much taller then me. I am a big ole guy. I love my kids and their accomplishments. Heck last night was the end of the longest day I have had in many moons. It started out with a morning trip into our old building and where I type my morning notes to all of you and then quickly rushed out to the new location to get things ready for our move in two weeks. A bitter long day of work that most know starts at 5:30am and ended at 3:15 with me rushing out to get Mandy to Softball so she could get in one game before her and three other team mates that I also drove back to their school from that softball game away at River Valley so they could get ready for their end of year band concert, senior blanket ceremonies for kids that have made it a minimum of 4 years in high school in band. Most of those seniors had been in band since 5th grade. There were two huge awards being given out to seniors only one was the Jazz award which was deserving of the individual that received it Anna Griffin a friend of Amanda’s and then was the big award,… The John Philip Sousa award, voted on by the band members and instructor as well as assistants. Amanda received that. Yeah I am proud. She did an outstanding job in her efforts to maintain school work, sports and band in her high school career. Good for her. But not only was this going on but also the art fest for the high school students as well, Mandy had art work in there and also had placing ribbons on her work. Yeah Marty is a proud dad. Many Marty’s exists out there. Some do not like to show it, because it’s not the norm… I say huey to that too. Men should show strength but compassion in their family. Wow, I feel I am preaching to the choir…but, it’s true we do care. So congrats to the Mommy site and all the Mommy stories out there. It is needed in a world where media likes to show the wrong in the world before the right. We need more right stories. Yeah it’s somewhat blowing pink and mauve smoke up the ying yang I know…but, who wants to hear negative events daily? Not me… So, this Friday have a great day, have a wonderful weekend. Celebrate good in the kids you raised and spoil the crap out of their kids…heck that is what we are supposed to do… A huge hug, a grand pat. Mart
