What are you waiting for?

Musica Continuada.

So today I had a to write up some reports for I did for this recruiter I work for. Sigh, I mean, we already entered the information into the computer...how hard would it be for them to,ummmm, hit print? Apparently very. Heh Thanks powers that be for killing my day off...bastids. And of course Murphy's law kicks in...I go there on my day off and get suckered into doing work...bastids part deux. I'm home now for a bit....and listening to : You can't go - prince language edit/remix. It's a awesome remix of the old Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes tune which was also covered by Thelma Houston , as "don't leave me this way". It's a booty shakin song....so get down! Another tune I listened to is by the Ballistic Brothers - A Love Supreme. Perhaps a nod to John Coltrane? As per wikipedia they are - Specializing in a kind of jazz-influenced funky electronica music. I guess but it's damn fun to listen too. I guess both can be considered "broken beat".... again I defer to Wikipedia : "Artists in this area mostly have a drum and bass, house, hip hop, techno or acid jazz background. As a result of these various influences, broken beat is sometimes considered more sophisticated than regular dance music, on the scale of jazz, soul or funk. It can be characterized by syncopated rhythm typically in 4/4 metre, with staggered or punctuated snare beats and/or hand claps. Broken beat also has its roots in 70's jazz fusion and has been influenced by artists such as Lonnie Liston Smith, The Mizell Brothers (producers for Donald Byrd, Bobbi Humphrey and Johnny Hammond in the mid-70's), Herbie Hancock, George Duke, and others. One might also hear echos of Disco, 80's Rn'B (Shalamar, Prince), early Electronica (Kraftwerk), hip hop (Planet Rock), 80s New Wave (Depeche Mode, New Order), House and Techno in Broken beat". What ever you call it , it's dance music plain and simple and damn fun to listen too. Since i'm on the "musica tip" , another jam i recently became reacquainted with is by Paul Rutherford (formally of Frankie goes to Hollywood)...Get Real. Nice bubbly acid house 303 sounds, video game samples, moody lyrics, all the makings for a fine tune. Highly suggested...and to think it came out in the late 80's. "don't let them get you down, get up and stand your ground....get real". -------------------------- And now the blackberry of doom is buzzing...which means a , job call. yay.
