Rev's blog: "WTF?"

I got offered the coolest fuckin job on Friday! I'm gonna be joining an historical Scottish society (called Clanranald). These guys are currently working on building an historically accurate medieval fort village and do a lot of work teaching children all about what life was like in Scotland at that time. And that's where I fit in. I'll be learning all about the subject matter and travelling around schools speaking to children. I'll also need to go to 'fight school' to learn the martial art of sword fighting. The clan regularly do stunt work as extras on movies and TV documentaries and commercials and I will also be taking part in this side of things too. Eventually, once the fort they're building is complete, I'll be working there as a guide, leading school groups and tourists around the site. I also get to wear a kilt, a REAL traditional kilt and not the skirt thing that's commonly worn these days. I hadn't really planned on returning to work, but this kind of shit really floats my boat - learning about the times that William Wallace lived in and passing that information on to the next generation of Scots children. I gotta say, the thought of running across a battlefield, dressed up as some psycho barbarian, roaring and swinging a big fuckin sword is playing a big factor in my decision to accept this challenge!
