The sun dulled into insignifigance
orange rays fading away
clouds govern the night,
the youth hang out under lanterns
watching time slip slowly by
hiding feelings from deep inside.
A can of lager passed around
some cider feeds the soul.
"We're happy I tell you we are!"
Then why cry at night?
"There's nothing wrong, leave us alone!"
Then why the arguments and
shouts of pain?
Then why the violence
drugs and shame?
"We need something more,
or can't you see?"
"We need more
than being told we're free!"
They walk alone in a crowd
children of our own degredation
where imagination is reality.
Watching neon lights of their purity
where roses grow in winter
and love is found in war
filled with the compassion
of watching an enemy burn.
So much lying.
Watch out people
your children are dying.
