I looooooooove pirates. Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa, Captain Morgan...they all have a warm place in my heart. So obviously I had great expectations for this movie.
And for the most part, it delivered. Captain Barbossa was played flawlessly, as far as I'm concerned. He gave you the feeling you were watching a true swashbuckler. Cho Yun Fat played one of the pirate lords. He was wonderful. He's in the Replacemen Killers if you don't recall him. And the lady who played Calypso was equally creepy, and disturbing with her black teeth.
I like Johnny Depp, but he was pretty average for him in this. Still a good performance, but I didn't get the knock me off my feet feeling. I blame the script for some of it. There were some far out things in this, and he did his best.
Orlando Bloom gave an okay performance, as did the girl. I'm always amazed how she can find great looking outfits out on the high seas.
The guy who plays Davey Jones..he was all over the place. The script was definitely not his friend.
The script was somewhat confusing, the actors hard to understand in some spots, which added to the confusion. I felt the scripts for the first two were way better.
The highlights for me were Barbossa, who I didnt care for in the second one. The action scenes were superb. Keith Richards makes a cameo, and was great. The CGI, and special effects were incredible. They were so good, you couldnt tell the difference between them and the sets, and the sets were awesome too.
All in all, I give it a 9 out of 10. It was alot of fun, and I'm sure I'll watch the dvd a million times.
