SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Chris Wondolowski scored his MLS-leading 26th goal and the San Jose Earthquakes came back twice in the second half for a 2-2 tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday. Wondolowskis goal, a diving header in the 73rd minute off Marvin Chavezs corner kick, put him one behind Roy Lassiters season MLS scoring mark with one game left. The Earthquakes (19-6-8), who clinched the Supporters Shield when Sporting Kansas City tied New York on Saturday, finish their regular season Saturday in Portland. Wondolowski moved into a tie for second place on the leagues goal list. Stern John had 26 goals for Columbus in 1998, and Mamadou Diallo accomplished the feat for Tampa Bay in 2000. Robbie Keane scored his 12th goal in 15 games, and Edson Buddle, making his first start since May 26, nodded in his third of the season to stake the Galaxy to a pair of second-half leads. But Marvin Chavez curled home a beautiful free kick, and Wondolowski finally broke through after hitting the post twice in successive minutes earlier in the second half. San Jose extended its unbeaten streak at Buck Shaw Stadium to 18 matches, moving to 11-0-7 since Aug. 13, 2011. The Earthquakes are unbeaten in eight matches overall. The Galaxy (15-12-6) are virtually assured of finishing fourth in the Western Conference, and thus having to play an extra post-season match. Los Angeles outshot San Jose 11-2 in the first half, carving up San Joses defence with threaded through balls. Christian Wilhelmssons ninth-minute toe-poke beat goalkeeper Jon Busch but rolled just wide. Busch charged off his line to make saves against Buddle in the 22nd minute and Keane in the 27th. Wondolowski hit the post with a left-footed shot from 22 yards in the 49th minute, then banged an open back-post header from a corner kick off the woodwork the following minute. San Jose had three chances but couldnt score in a wild 51st-minute goalmouth scramble. The Galaxy grabbed back the momentum in the 59th with a play started and finished by Keane. The Irish international sprung Buddle loose on the left wing, and the return cross bounced off two Earthquakes defenders and dropped down for Keane to jam home at the edge of the 6-yard box. San Jose responded in the 61st minute with a beautiful 25-yard free kick from Chavez, who bent his effort over the wall and tucked it just inside the near post. Buddle outjumped Victor Bernardez in the 69th minute to knock home a relatively simple header off Sean Franklins deep right-wing cross. But the Quakes tied things up with another set-piece strike in the 73rd minute. Chavez delivered a corner into a seething Galaxy box, where Wondolowski conjured up a diving header for his eighth goal in six games. Kaepernick Elite Jersey . Malte Stromwall scored the game-winning goal in the third period, as the Americans beat the Everett Silvertips 3-2 to snap a three-game slide Friday night in Western Hockey League action. Authentic Kaepernick Jersey . Emelin recorded three goals and four assists in 67 games with the Canadiens this past season, his first in the NHL. http://elevatedcolor.com/new.html . Johnson pitched seven solid innings and ended his career-worst four-game losing skid, leading the Miami Marlins past the Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 Thursday. HOUSTON -- Kevin Garnett, his eyes fixed low, walked over to Kevin McHale after the final buzzer and gave him a long hug. Several other Celtics followed, embracing the Houston Rockets coach and expressing their condolences on the death of his daughter before McHale wiped away a tear and headed for the locker room. It was a touching end to Houstons 101-89 victory Friday night, when McHales current team beat his old one. "I got to go over and give him a hug and talk for a little bit," said Boston swingman Courtney Lee, who played for McHale with the Rockets last season. "I saw the tears rolling down his face and it was definitely an emotional time." McHales 23-year-old daughter, Alexandra "Sasha" McHale, died Nov. 24 of complications from Lupus. McHale left the Rockets for nearly a month before returning last Saturday for a game against Dallas. A Hall of Fame forward for the Celtics during his playing days, McHale selected Garnett out of high school with the fifth pick in the 1995 NBA draft when he was general manager of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Watching the two of them together on the sideline, it was obvious that they still share a deep connection. "I saw Kevin and had an emotional moment with him," Garnett said. On the court, the Celtics were focused on slowing Rockets stars James Harden and Jeremy Lin. That left reserve Greg Smith free to make some big plays. Harden scored 21 points and Smith added 20 to lead the Rockets. "They were going to overcompensate," McHale said of Bostons defence on Harden and Lin. "So if you roll behind there is going to be some openings, and Greg did a great job of presenting himself, catching and finishing around the basket." Smith, a second-year player who fell one point short of his season high, hit eight of nine shots and also grabbed six rebounds and had three blocks. "I was in the right spots at the right time," Smith said. "I knew if they passed the ball to me, the best thing I could do is finish it." Harden had 10 points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal in the third quarter as Houston built its lead. The Rockets used a 9-2 run capped by a 3-pointer by Harden to open the period and go on top 52-47. They never trailed after that and cruised to the victory. "In the third quarter we didnt stop them," Garnett said. "We were trying to create some defensive consistency and we just werent able to do that." Paul Pierce led Boston with 18 points after scoring a season-high 34 in the Celtics double-overtime win at Dallas on Wednesday. The Celtics havent had a great start to the season, but thought they had turned a corner recently after winnning two in a row.dddddddddddd. "We took a step back tonight," Pierce said. "We were playing every other quarter. Weve got to come out with the right mindset to be consistent." Harden, who had scored 30 or more in his last two games, got off to a slow start before heating up in the third quarter. Chandler Parsons added 15 points and Omer Asik had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets, who won their second straight. Rajon Rondo had 15 points, 13 assists and four steals for Boston, but also committed seven turnovers. Garnett chipped in 14 points for the Celtics, who shot 40 per cent. "We had some runs, but I never felt like we were going to win the game tonight," said Boston coach Doc Rivers, who also hugged McHale after the game. "I dont know why and Im disappointed in the loss." Rondo tried to swipe the ball from Harden as he dribbled near the 3-point line with less than 5 minutes remaining. But he missed the ball and fell to his hands and knees as Harden pulled up and swished a 3 to extend Houstons lead to 91-83. Another nifty play came about 1 1/2 minutes later when Parsons stole a pass by Rondo. Parsons dribbled down into the lane before kicking it out to Toney Douglas for a 3-pointer. Douglas added a three-point play a few seconds later after a missed 3-pointer by Pierce to put Houston up 99-85. The Celtics had cut the lead to five with a 6-2 run before Carlos Delfino hit a 3 for Houston with about 8 minutes left. Lee grabbed a steal on a bad pass by Delfino soon after that, and was dribbling down the court on a fast break when play was stopped by an inadvertent whistle. Rivers was not happy with the miscue and walked several steps onto the court while yelling as the ball was reset. Houston was up by nine points until Rondo made two free throws followed by a put-back dunk by Jared Sullinger to cut the lead to 75-70 entering the last quarter. Houston led by as many as 13 in the first quarter, and was up by eight before Boston used a 13-3 run to take a 34-32 lead about 6 minutes before halftime. Jason Terry tied the game with a 3-pointer in that run, and Rondo gave Boston its first lead of the game with a layup. The Celtics had built their lead to seven points before Houston ended the half with a 9-5 spurt to get within 45-43 at halftime. NOTES: The Celtics are in the middle of playing three straight games in Texas. They wrap up the Texas part of their road trip against San Antonio on Saturday night before ending their trip at Chicago on Tuesday. ... Houston begins a two-game road trip to Toronto and New York on Sunday. ... Lee, who played for Houston last season, finished with eight points and three rebounds. ' ' '
