Well where to be began........... we have been getting several emails regarding the final count and here it is:
Ticket sales 1800 !!!
Parade count ( according to city official ) 2700 !!!!
We were ALL blown away at the turn out of the parade! and all the credit goes to you pirates,wenches !! We had pirates and wenches from all over the world, like Thailand,Great Britain,Germany,Philippines and Switzerland and Canada ! NOPD stated that this is the BIGGEST one day parade in NOLA history !!
I want to share a story about the parade, During the parade Sweeney and I went ahead of the parade to set the barricades up at the intersection of Bourbon and Orleans ( Tropical Isie) for the sword and black powder skit, as we were setting up a officer came to me and stated "you cant set up yet" and he went further to ask me if I knew where the rear of the parade was, I told him "no" he proceeded to take me to his police vehicle and I stood up on the rear bumper, and to my amazement I couldn't see the end of the parade !!!!!
Both Pyratecon crew and NOPD ( and they are pro's on parades) were taken back on the magnitude of the parade, so all you pirates and wench this rum is on YOU !!!! Starting in 2 weeks the new site will be up, also we recruited a few new people to help organize Pyratecon 2009 When we launch the site we will let you all know the new people aboard, we feel that with these people and their direct connection to NOLA that next years Pyratecon will be bigger and better, one of the event schedule will be professional sword fight classes taught by Tim Weske ( www.SwordPlay Fencing Studios) So watch for a updated Pyratecon site.
