1. Know when to stand your ground and when to walk away.
2. Never chase love.
The natural reaction to being chased is to run away.
Unless the other person is as in to you as you are to them,
walk away even if you're in love.
Have a Zero Tolerance approach to people who play games with something as fragile and as dangerous as love.
3. Accept that not everyone is going to like or love you.
Let go of the need to be liked.
4. Learn whose opinion is worth caring about and whose isn't.
5. Chances are yours is not the sorriest story or life in the world. Neither does the world in any way revolve about you.
Never allow yourself the crime of self pity.
There is great satisfaction in devoting yourself to the needs of others from time to time.
6. Love yourself. You should be the best friend you ever have.
7. Only offer the respect you are shown.
8. See the good in life's difficulties. Few friends?
You are selective in the company you keep.
Single for some time? You are waiting for someone special to come along.
Lonely? You're also independent.
9. Never let the wrong people see you bleed.
10. Let anger and misery in.
Let them do their thing for a while, and then let them be on their way.
Neither deny nor wallow in either.
11. Know that the absolution or happiness found in the bottom of a beer glass (or snorted, injected or smoked) is a lie.
12. Take responsibility for your life.
If you want change, then you are going to have to work for it.
If you go waiting for something good to flop itself in your lap you may be waiting for an awfully long time.
13. Strong, good people know when to swallow their pride and either ask for help or apologize.
But never give up your dignity.
14. Understand what a Self Fulfilling Prophesy is.
If you look at the world through bitter and jaded eyes and believe that you will never find happiness, meaning or true love, you won..t because you won..t recognize the chances when they come.
If you believe things can get better, they just might.
Idealists are screwed over by life far more often than cynics but they are also the ones who just sometimes genuinely do live happily ever after.
15. Cynicism and Wisdom are not the same thing.
It's a beautiful life. You just gotta Believe.
