Hard 2 Handle's blog: "A Whole Lot of Nothing"

We now have to bring baby Roxan to the Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA to see Dr. Jerry A. Shields and Dr. Carol L. Shields. They deal exclusively with ocular oncology (eye cancers, tumors etc.etc) and are the best at what they do so we have high hopes for these visits and subsequent procedures. Our first appointment is March 16th, however we have a big problem. Our Florida insurance isn't accepted by them, so we have to pay out of pocket. The first visit itself is going to run us between $2000 (on the low end) and $3500 (on the high end) That will be an 8-10hour visit in which the ground work will be set and many tests will be started. Then each subsequent visit will carry a new price tag of it's own ranging from $300-$2500 per visit depending on exactly what is revealed and exactly what needs to be done. I am sure we will have several visits the first week there. These procedures and appointments are very important to us as a family and to baby Roxan as an individual, her health and well being depend on these procedures in a great way, only we, having been paying out of pocket since her birth for most of her medical needs, are strapped beyond broke for cash. I am not going to ramble about how far behind on this and that we are, i am simply asking for your help. We started a fund a few months back for our daughter and had a number of contributors. All in all we managed to raise a TOTAL of $270 combined from everyone who contributed. While that is appreciated, and we used the money for meds and to help with Roxans expenses, we really could use a more generous and considerate turn out this time around. We have less than 3 weeks b4 we need to have the money in place and baby Roxan and I in Philly for her procedures. We need to raise AT LEAST $4000 by then to cover the first visits, travel fare, and maybe 1-2 more follow ups during the first week. Now, i am not one to beg, and i hate to even ASK for help taking care of my own, but i am pleading with each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart to please find it in yourselves to help me help my daughter. She deserves the best shot at a normal, happy and productive life that she can possibly get and with all her conditions and problems that is only going to be made possible through the generosity and support of people like you who selflessly give out of the kindness of your hearts to give a beautiful baby girl a chance at a happy and long life. I am not asking you to break the bank but rather to simply do everything you can. Spread the word, donate money, post fliers... ANYTHING. We need this for our daughter, and i am humbling myself to ask for your support on a great level. Please, help baby Roxan. Make it possible for her to continue smiling that beautiful smile of hers and to live a long and happy life.
