As of 12:00am on December, 7 2006 Ohio offically became a smoke-free state. Being in that no public buildings (exceptions for smoke shops, cigar lounges, nursing homes, VFW's and private clubs)could allow smoking within 50 feet of the main entrance. I for one smoke and feel as though my rights have been violated upon.
First off, I for one have no problem going outside for a cigarette. I have to at home, work, etc. But when I'm OUTSIDE, I shouldn't be told where I have to smoke! I'm already OUTSIDE, what more do you want? Me to stop smoking all together? Sorry all you Liberial Hippee Douches, the only way that's going to happen is if they make cigarettes illegal!
Smoking IS a choice. And I choose to do it! Who is anyone else to tell me what is and isn't good for me and what i should and shouldn't do? I'm 24 years old, I think I've lived long enough not to have "mommy and daddy" tell me what's good for me anymore.
What if ~I~ were to tell you that caffine is proven to be bad for you, which it has been. Does that mean that ~I~ should become a Douche as well and crusade against coffee, and tea, and cappichino, and expresso, and energy drinks, and even SODA POP? Caffine ~IS ALSO~ addiactive because it's also a stimulant, just like nicotine. Don't believe me? What do you call a "caffine headache" then? A doctor would call it "caffine withdrawl."
If you have a loved one that died from smoking, I'm sorry for your loss. But you really shouldn't blame the cigarette. No one held them at gun point and made them smoke. And yes I agree, cigarettes ARE addictive! But it's also possible to quit, if you choose to do so. But if you don't, then it's your own fault.
