Through The Tears
Life is but a highway
One we all must walk
Taking time to listen
And stopping to talk
The road is sometimes straight
Visibility is clear
Fast approaching obstacles
We show no fear
As we travel our path
And the road takes its turns
We cross many bridges
Trying not to burn
There comes a time
When corners may come
Many choices to travel
But we can only choose one
We ponder our choices
Search for the light
Darkness may fall
But there is always a light
We follow our map
Pit stops along the way
Passing over bumps in the road
Driving for a new day
In the darkness we drive
Pondering our thoughts
Wanting so much
And expecting naught
We pull into our destination
With a sense of relief
Tired and weary
But full of belief
Belief in a life
Of a well traveled road
It was all worth it
I knew where I had to go
I’ve wiped away the tears
From a long journey home
You held my heart
I no longer needed to roam
My wish for you
Is a smile on your face
You helped me with my journey
To that special place
May your journey
Be steadfast and true
I hope that you find
What matters to you
Be safe and cautious
Eyes straight ahead
Slow down on the yellows
And stop on the reds
You will always have a piece of me
Travel safe and true
You’ll always have a part of me
My heart travels with you
