this weekend marks the beginning of the annual slaughter of seals off the eastern shores of canada-a time where there are no words to describe the degree of shame i hold as a canadian, and the self-loathing for being born into this species of animal.
what is it with us, as an animal species, that we seek to differentiate ourselves from all other life forms, when the reality says otherwise-beyond our comportment and our ill placed arrogance that is.
have we really devolved to the degree we seem to, where we refuse to accept that we are no better or worse-in general terms- than any other species...we need each species-each individual for that matter, for this entire sphere of interconnecting environments and ecosystems to thrive, let alone to survive.
when we rape and steal from the world for our own selfish interests it impacts profoundly upon all else that shares that which is taken, adulterated and destroyed.
what kind of fucking moron seriously thinks that the non-humans either care, or are able to decipher the motivation and the actual actions we do, even as it spells their extinction?
the seals off the coast of canada are not 'canadian' just because some bottomfeeder of a human decided that territorial boundaries are the way to go, and that all that lies within those borders belongs to the human there.

arbitrary decisions made by humans, as to what constitutes 'too many' of a species or all, is perhaps the height of arrogance-in particular since we have clearly shown ourselves unable and disinterested in managing our own kind.....having even gone so far as to create god things to rationalise our behaviours...as though the figment of the human brain can in itself create a 'superior' life form in its own image and set out-on faith yet-and claim dominion...or god-ship...over all else...
if there is such a thing as karma-then this time it is going to be one motherfucking whopper of karma-and i will be smiling my biggest smile...
