TODAY
Tonight I heard a child laugh,
And I felt pain.
Tonight I saw a man smile,
And I felt anger.
Tonight I heard a woman speak,
And I felt sorrow.
For today I saw a plane fly,
And I felt fear.
Today I saw a building collapse,
And I felt shock.
Today I watched a woman dance,
And I felt shame.
Today we watched our world change,
And we felt lost.
Today we saw innocence die,
And we felt confusion.
Today I saw humanity itself,
And I felt hopeless.
But, Today I saw a helping hand,
And I felt hope.
Today I saw a child’s tears,
And I felt strength.
Today I saw a world united,
And I felt proud.
