Things don't happen quite that way
That's what I hear the people say
We love, we laugh, we play, we scream
Too good to be more than a dream
Teeming with such love, such life
Infatuation's perfect wife
The way we make the other feel
Too good they say, "It can't be real".
Suddenly the dark clouds loomed
And ended the first dream too soon
Things changed too fast for me to see
How all of this affected me
The pain feels real my hopes were shattered
They say it shouldn't really matter
'tis but a dream not yours to keep
My heart bleeds - my body weeps
The first dream made me feel so good
As hopes of love and caring should
The second dream brought grief and dread
Disbelief like people said
Love is good that's what they say
But it doesn't grow in just a day
Things just don't happen quite that way
