I see all these posts about the military men and women in uniform, and various things about them, so I have a question to pose to everyone.
When you're thinking about our men and women in uniform, do you include those who aren't?
The thing I hate most is when I get in a discussion with someone about the military, and they find out that I'm a Navy brat, and they say "oh, you have no say in this, you didn't really serve." When you hold dear our military servicemen and women, do you also consider their children and spouses, having to move constantly, worry frequently, and go through the same ups and downs as the actual enlisted?
Military families learn the same lingo, live with the same hardships, and go through terrible heartache while our servicemen and women are fighting for us, left behind to wonder how things are going, maybe in a place you know well, maybe not.
So my question is this: are you part of the military only if you put on that freshly pressed uniform every day, or is watching someone leave in it with a heavy heart every morning enough? |
