Volunteers
As a volunteer, I give my time to protect life,limb and property. I do this with no reservations or complaints. All those those that volunteer are doing this for the same reasons....they want to help. That being said, I grow so weary of hearing every single day how volunteers are not real firefighters...or in this case, volunteers have no business in a "union" town. Last I checked, we live in a free state and can travel to any part of these United States, "Union town" or not. I have heard from several people in the fire service, both paid and volunteer, that the City of Charleston do not want our volunteer apparatus in "their" city, on Apparatus day, when we are supposed to be coming together as ONE. This is because Charleston is a "union" town. I guess whoever decided that we would be "smearing" it in the face of the "paid departments" never once considered that us volunteers could possibly be attending to support the paid departments. Ahhh, A Nice Weekend!
Heyyy friends! been awhile since i popped in! How you all you doin?? I had a great weekend, a long overdue getaway weekend. So those of you who know my father passed away March 25, 2008. He fought a hell of battle and in the time I got to spend with him I was able to make up for some of the time, I got to hear him say I love, even tho I always knew he did. I love him more than I ever told him and I just hope he realized that. I got to take care of him for a couple months before he passed and I cheished every second and will never forget him. I Keep To Myself And ...
Where to start. It's presently 8:21pm by my clock on Sunday the 10th of August. Blah, way too much effort already. I was woken up about 1am this morning by a phone call from my parents stating that the local police department had shown up there looking for me. Yeast Rolls
YEAST ROLLS 1/2 cups sugar 2 cups milk 1 teaspoon salt 4 tablespoons shortening 2 packages yeast 6 cups flour Scald sugar, milk, salt and shortening together and then let cool. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm (110 degrees) water. Mix yeast mixture with milk mixture. Gradually add approximately 6 cups flour. Batter should be slightly sticky. Cover and let rise to double in size. Knead 5 minutes. Roll out and cut into rolls or pinch balls to make cloverleaf rolls. Let rise again until double. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

Sausage Casserole
INGREDIENTS * 1 pound sage flavored breakfast sausage * 3 cups shredded potatoes, drained and pressed * 1/4 cup butter, melted * 12 ounces mild Cheddar cheese, shredded * 1/2 cup onion, shredded * 1 (16 ounce) container small curd cottage cheese * 6 jumbo eggs DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch square baking dish. 2. Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside. 3. In the prepared baking dish, stir together the shredded potatoes and butter. Line the bottom and sides of the baking dish with the mixture. In a bowl, mix the sausage, Cheddar cheese, onion, cottage cheese, and eggs. Pour over the potato mixture. 4. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the casserole comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

3 cups old fashioned oats 1 cup wheat bran 1 cup wheat germ 1/2 cup almonds (or pecans or walnuts) 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds 1/2 cup sunflower seeds 1/3 cup honey 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/3 cup orange juice 2 tablespoons melted butter 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1. Mix oats, wheat bran, wheat germ, nuts, and seeds in large bowl. 2. In small bowl mix honey, brown sugar, orange juice, butter, and cinnamon. 3. Pour honey mixture onto oats mixture and stir well. 4. Bake in a 275*F (135*C) oven for 1 hour, stirring every fifteen minutes.

So.... 2 days ago know I let one of my darkest secrets out to my brothers girlfriend. Boy did that bring hell tears pain flashbacks and memories. The Proper Way
Being an Army Veteran and proud of the fact, it gives me great pride when I see other people take pride in their country in dispalying our Flag. It does however sadden me that many of these people do not know the proper way to display the flag and in doing so inproperly it is a disgrace. It has become one of my biggest pet peeves. I have even gone so far as in my hometown to knock on one of the city councilmen's door and ask him if he could not afford a new flag since the one he was displaying was torn to shreds. I see many people having their picture taken in front of flag, trying to show they are patriotic ( and I applaud them for the effort) but the flag will be backwards, and this in intself irks me. Ice Storm Takes It Toll
Southern Indiana was hit with Ice and Snow storm Monday nite and Tuesday. We made it through monday mostly uneffected by the first storm that passed, but the second one got us with a force. Ice brought down ours and many others power lines. The news says 67,0000 in our area was effected with power outages. I am not sure when we will get power back. Trying to hold hold out as long as we could but tonight as the sun started setting the news said tempatures would drop in the low teens. Our oldest daughter and her fiancee' came to the rescue and offered us a warm place to stay. We arrived here and I am so thankful for the warmth. My old bones were starting to rattle. lol I was thinking that they might find me frozen in my bed under all the comforts I own (smiling) not quite how I had pictured going out. I'm writing a lesson plan for one of my classes. It is set in the reciprocal style of teaching. To put it simply, the students are in groups of 2 or 3 and one student performs the task while the other observes and provides feedback. I need help coming up with basketball tasks for the students to perform. So far I have dribbling with a defender, so that means they will need to be in groups of 3. I need two more tasks. I've thought about doing something with shooting. Keep in mind most of these students are very poorly skilled so a free throw is probably out of the question. So, a few nights ago my brotha-from -anotha-motha came over to hang out and party, and he'd never been in my town, or partied with me. We finished a 5th between us, and were sufficiantly smashed. He was a bit more smashed than i, since he never drinks We decided to go to the bar, and were there for about 45 min before they noticed he wasn't wearing shoes. So we went back to my house so he could get his shoes, and went back to the bar. We were there for 20 min before they noticed he was only wearing 1.So I ran to the bathroom real quick, and when i came out, he was gone. I couldn't find him anywhere. I walked around town from 1am-2:30am looking for him. He had curled up behind a church and passed out. He wandered around the next morning until he found the bar then found his way back to my house.... We died laughing the next day while we were nursing severe hangovers... lol

No one wants to be a statistic. When I first married, I was like, "Wow, awesome! This is for life!" because I was actually that much in love. Then 7 years later she calls it off. Needless to say it hurt. I left and moved back to my old stomping grounds where one month later I got a Border Collie puppy to fill that void. Plus, I love those fucking dogs. So smart. But the trick was to find things to keep me from sulking and falling into a pit of misery. Well, starting a new job helped out a lot, and then also getting back into cartooning which I had done years and years before. Now things are really looking up and 2011 seems as if it's going to be the breaking year. I guess the lesson here is to never give up. When the chips are down, throw 'em across the room and kick life in the face. It's worked for me.

To my family: I have you there for a reason. I love helping you out and would love to see it in return. I help/helped many all over Fubar and it seems that it is more one sided than anything. We as human being go through many test in life. Our patience,knowledge our strengths and weakness but very rarely does our friendships get tested. When this test comes along thats when you know whether or not if you had passed. Take a moment to think back to all your pass friendships, did either of you became angry at the other and realize that you can forgive each other or did you continue to hold grudges.
