A Simple Christmas Tale

A Note For The Mothers Out There...
I never really gave alot of thought to birthdays in general, until my son had his 1st one. Naturally, to any parent this is a milestone and wonderful reason for celebration. But on that day I was given a gift, a beautiful white gold and diamond pendant in the shape of a mother and child. When I asked why, I was told that because even though it was our sons life we were celebrating, on that day one year earlier I was the one who went through the miracle (and pain!) of bringing him into the world. So for my son it was a birthday, and for me, an anniversary. The visitation and funeral are at a funeral home that's just a couple miles from me, so I'm trying to decide whether to go - my mom's not even going because she hasn't talked to him in years. So, I think we should have a "Change your country" day on fubar. The rules would be like this: You can't just go pick a different country. You have to "trade" countries with someone on your page. - Two were injured when an ex-husband drove his truck through a metal gate and peppered his ex-wife's mobile home with .22-caliber slugs, according to Durant Police. Durant Police Chief Gary Rudick, who was at the scene, said that Travis Wigington, 47, drove through the gate of property located at 2909 Cemetery Road, pulled out a .22-caliber rifle, and began firing at a travel trailer occupied by Carol Annette Johnson, 45, and her 6-year-old daughter. Zigeuner Schnitzel
Zigeuner Schnitzel Ingredients (based on 3 persons) : 500 grams pork cutlets pepper from the mill paprika powder 20 grams flour 3 Tbsps oil 150 grams coarsely chopped mushrooms 1 finely chopped onion 1 green and 1 red bell pepper (cleaned and cut into strips) 1/8 litre red wine 1/8 litre beef stock 1 tin tomato paste 2 Tbsps vinigar salt Preparation : Season the pork cutlets with pepper and paprika powder. Cover the cutlets in the flower. Heat in a large skillet 2 Tbsps oil and pre-fry the cutlets on both sides. Turn down the heat to the half and fry the cutlets till done in appr. 3-4 minutes per side. Take the cutlets out of the pan and keep warm. Heat 1 Tbsp oil in the skillet, add the mushrooms and brown them lightly. Add the onions and the bell peppers and let simmer for about 10 minutes till onions and peppers are done.. Mix the tomato paste, red wine, and beef stock with the vinegar and season to taste with paprika powder, pepper and salt.

Failed Class Project
CLASS PROJECT GONE WRONG An elementary school class started a class project to make planters to take home to their parents. They wanted to have a plant in it that was easy to take care of, so they decided to use cactus plants. The students were given green-ware pottery planters in the shape of clowns which they painted with glaze. The clown planters were professionally fired at a class outing so they could see the process. It was great fun! They planted cactus seeds in the finished planters and they grew nicely, but unfortunately, the children were not allowed to take them home. The cactus plants were removed and small ivy replaced them and the children were then allowed to take them home instead. The teacher said cactus seemed like a good idea at the time!

First Try
Ok, this is the first time I've ever tried a "blog" entry.. bear with me ok. First and foremost, I gotta tell you. I am really liking LC. Seems that I've had more to look at and more to talk about in the last few months then ever before. Funny thing... Today's the first of four off days I'll have in the next three weeks. Today's Columbus Day (I know, I know.) and it's a holiday for government employees. Warning...Gonna vent here. People suck. Well it is almost thanksgiving again. which means black friday is also real close. I will be on the road to get my son which suites me fine. I will stay away from all stores on that day. Coming back home from work was a bitch. The traffic was horrendous and on top of that I was assigned to do research for the company I was interning for. Talk about heavy duty work ! Chocolate Bar Filled Chocolate Cupcakes
Ingredients: * CHOCOLATE BAR FILLING(recipe follows) * 3 cups all-purpose flour * 2 cups sugar * 2/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa * 2 teaspoons baking soda * 1 teaspoon salt * 2 cups water * 2/3 cup vegetable oil * 2 tablespoons white vinegar * 2 teaspoons vanilla extract * 2 (6.0 oz. each) HERSHEY'S Milk Chocolate Bars, broken into pieces Directions: 1. Prepare CHOCOLATE BAR FILLING. 2. Heat oven to 350°F. Line muffin cups (2-1/2 inches in diameter) with paper bake cups. 3. Stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add water, oil, vinegar and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full with batter. Spoon 1 level tablespoon FILLING into center of each cupcake. 4. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in cake portion comes out clean. Remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely. Top each cupcake with chocolate bar piece. About 2-1/2 dozen cupcakes.

The Holiday Is Over
Well it's been less than two months since my father's death. To say I miss him is like calling the ocean a small stream. There is a void inside me that I am starting to wonder if it will consume me and take me to the blissful state of nothingness. So far no such luck. Today was a hard day for the family. The first holiday with daddy. The strangest things would break at least one of us down. Watching football, cooking dinner, eatting dinner, lauging at the memories that we shared and thinking about the wonderful times past. Reflecting back to things that we did, or things that need to be done realizing that the rock, the foundation of my family is gone. So the question was brought forth to me what are we to do? How do you move on? There was no easy answer. The world doesn't stop just because my own world is falling down. We rebuild the family and keep him in our hearts. Keep the thoughts that make us happy and do the things that we know he would love for us to do.
