King Cake
First, it is necessary to give a little history lesson... The King Cake is believed to have originated in France around the 12th century. These early Europeans celebrated the coming of the three wise men bearing gifts twelve days after Christmas calling it the Feast of the epiphany, Twelfth Night, or King's Day. The main part of the celebration was the baking of a King’s Cake to honor the three Kings. The cakes were made circular to portray the circular route used by the kings to get to the Christ Child, which was taken to confuse King Herod who was trying to follow the wise men so he could kill the Christ Child. As a Company, Southwest Airlines is going to support "Red Fridays." Last week I was in Atlanta, Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. OK, I see a LOT of profiles out here with people claiming to be cowboys, but not one photo shows them working with, or even sitting on their horse...or any horse, for that matter. Hamburger Meat Pie
1 unbaked pie shell 1 lb. ground beef 1 lg. onion Chopped green pepper, amount desired 1 can tomato soup or 1 can cream of mushroom soup Brown hamburger with chopped onion and pepper in skillet. Sometimes.......
Sometimes I just need to cry, let it all out, when things get too hard to handle, then I'm fine again for awhile, is that wrong? Problem is, how can you cry on the shoulder of the one that hurt you to begin with? I can't do it anymore.... Strawberry Marbled Cheesecake
Crust: 1/4 cup butter, melted 1 cup graham cracker crumbs 3 tablespoons sugar Cheesecake: 24 ounces cream cheese, softened 3/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 eggs 10 ounces frozen strawberries (thawed), in syrup 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch Puree strawberries and cornstarch in blender. Heat in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened, then cool. Combine melted butter, graham cracker crumbs and sugar; press onto bottom of 9-inch springform pan. Bake at 350 F. for 10 minutes. Combine cream cheese, sugar and vanilla, mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour half of the batter over the crust then add half of the strawberry mixture by spoonfuls to the batter. Pour remaining batter into the pan then add the remaining strawberry mixture by spoonfuls. Swirl the mixture with a knife until it resembles a marbled effect. Bake at 300 F. for 50-60 minutes or until set. Allow cheesecake to cool

2 tbsp. olive or vegetable oil 1 c. onion 2 med. green or red peppers, chopped 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 med. bay leaf 2 c. marinara sauce 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1/4 tsp. hot pepper sauce 1 lb. med. shrimp, peeled & deveined 8 oz. angel hair pasta, cooked & drained Lemon slices & fresh sage to garnish In 10-inch skillet over medium heat, in hot oil, cook onion, peppers, garlic and bay leaf until tender Add marinara sauce, lemon juice, hot pepper sauce and shrimp. Simmer 5 minutes or until shrimp are pink and opaque, stirring occasionally. Discard bay leaf. Serve over hot angel hair pasta. Garnish with lemon slices and sage leaves, if desired.

Goya dough rounds (frozen section) 1 lb ground beef 95% lean fresh recao (chopped), to taste fresh cilantro (chopped), to taste 1 packet Goya Sazon 1 teaspoon Goya Adobo 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 teaspoon coriander seeds 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 tablespoons sofrito (Goya) 1 onion chopped 2 small green chilies whole 1 teaspoon chopped garlic juice from 1 lime salt and pepper, to taste shredded cheese Remove dough rounds from freezer 1 hour in advance to thaw. In a pot over medium heat, sauté onions until soft. Add meat; brown thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients except cheese. Simmer on low for 1 hour, stirring every so often. Turn off heat. 1 lb swiss chard, yielding 2 cups of chopped ribs 1/4 cup (half a stick) butter 3/4 to 1 cup heavy cream Enough dry pasta to make about one quart of cooked pasta (use rice pasta if gluten-free is required) Salt and pepper 1 Separate the ribs from the greens in the manner described here. 2 tbsp. chopped onion 1/2 clove garlic, minced 1 tbsp. butter 1/2 can Cheddar cheese soup 1 (3-oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained 1/4 cup milk 2 tbsp. dry sherry 1 tbsp. minced parsley 1 1/2 cups cooked lobster 1/2 cup frozen peas, cooked and drained 1 tbsp. buttered soft bread crumbs Sauté onion and garlic in butter in skillet until tender. Mini Apple Crisp
1 medium apple, peeled and sliced 1 tablespoon all purpose flour 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon butter or margarine 2 tablespoons quick-cooking oats 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon cream, optional Place apple slices in a small greased baking dish. In a small bowl, combine flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add oats and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apple slices. Ok what is with the people on all these web sites who seem like they are interested in starting something then just like that leaving, or just stop talking all together? I am so FUCKING tired of these people. What is wrong with them all? Is it me? Hubby Doing Well
just wanted to let you guys know that my husband had surgery this morning around 7 am. he was in surgery for 3 and half hours, but is home and sleeping soundly. everything went great they were able to reattach the muscle and tendons, and ligaments back to the elbow. he has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but if he will listen to the doctor and follow orders, (lol too stubborn wont happen), he will make a full recovery. thank you to all of you who wished him well and said prayers for him too.

ever have one of those friends that you can't really explain why you are friends with them? Can You Believe????
That July is almost over, to a lot of the country this means usually 1 more really hot month before Fall and cooler temps hit. That is what i always looked forward to back home in Kentucky, here in Florida we'll still be swimming possibly into Nov. and very possible to wear shorts on Christmas....LOL....such different environments. Ok so yesterday I'm outside weed eating the grass around the house, I go to this downed tree in my yard, the winters here have been hard on the trees in my yard. My Birthday Present.
I'm getting really anxious. Eric ordered this beautiful ring for me for my birthday.. My birthday was yesterday. We went to the store and had it ordered Friday. It's beautiful.. But they said since they didn't have it in white gold at the store, that they would have to have it transferred from the store in Indianapolis and that since the store isn't open on the weekends, that it would be around Monday or Tuesday before it would get to the store up here. Well, they said FedEx usually runs around noon.. and they would call me when it's in. I didn't hear anything yesterday and they haven't called yet today either. Of course it's only a few minutes past noon right now. but I'm so impatient. I want it now. lol.
